The Linden Public School district welcomes qualified students from around the world to study at Linden High School. We prepare students to lead and succeed in an interconnected, globalized world.  We provide an educational environment characterized by academic challenge, individualized support, diversity, and a familial sense of community.

 

The Linden Public Schools district is an authorized SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program)-certified school district, and is authorized to issue the I-20 form that enables international students to apply for an F-1 Visa in order to peruse full time study in the United States.

 

We welcome eligible student students (ages 14-17) from grades 9-12 to apply for admission to Linden High School.  Linden High School is the ideal school for international high school students seeking to transition into a top, American University. Some of our recent graduates have gained acceptance into prestigious universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Columbia and Cornell. 

 

Qualifying international students can earn the distinction of graduating with the prestigious IB Diploma, a qualification that is welcomed by leading universities around the world.

 

Additionally, students seeking to perfect their English proficiency will benefit from our acclaimed ESL (English as a Second Language) program. Our ESL program is rated among the best in the nation, and has been designated by the state of New Jersey as a model program.

About Linden, NJ: 

 

 Linden High School is located in Linden, New Jersey.   The school is conveniently located close to public transportation, and is only 40 minutes from New York City by train.  We are a welcoming and culturally diverse community, where over 30 languages are spoken among our student population.

Required SLEP/TOFEL Score: 

Applicants are required to submit a test score indicating that the student has at least an intermediate level of English language profieciency. 

 

 

Tuition Costs: 

 

 Because the International Education program at Linden High School is a not-for-profit endeavor, our tuition is considerably less than that charged by private schools on our area.  Tuition for international students attending Linden High School is the actual per-pupil expense incurred by the district.  Tuition costs are approximately $20,000 per year. 

 

Housing: 

 

    International students studying at Linden High School will have a wonderful opportunity for further immersion in American language and culture while living with a host family in our community.  

 

Host Families: 

 

  • Will provide international students with a safe and welcoming home environment close to Linden High School. They will provide students with parental guidance and support.
  • Will help international students acquire English through providing total immersion in a culturally authentic English speaking environment 
  • Will have an interest in foreign cultures and in helping an international student understand the American way of life.
  • Will receive training and on going support to ensure a successful homestay.

 

The approximate cost for room and board is $1, 500 per month, or $15,000 for the academic year.
